March 25th 2015: Ian Bull -
The meeting was very well attended with some new members joining and some visitors which is lovely for the Society. After welcoming everyone and dealing with notices regarding the Spring Show on April 18th at Foakes Hall and arrangements for our visit to Myddleton House on May 12th, the speaker for the evening Mr Ian Bull Garden Manager for RHS Hyde Hall was introduced.
The talk titled “The Dry Garden” featured Beth Chatto’s garden as a now well developed,
mature area with The Dry Garden at Hyde Hall as a much newer development. It is always
pleasant to see familiar places and learn about their history to remind us of where they came from and the conditions they have overcome. For those who are not familiar with the gardens perhaps they will be enthused to visit them this year. Plants suitable for dry areas or well drained areas were noted and we were given a plant list hand out always
Refreshments followed and members took the opportunity to ask questions relating to suitable plants for their own gardens
